When Dan Reynolds is asked about his lyrics, he typically won't give a definitive answer. He says he leaves the interpretation up to the listener. I sometimes wish he would share the meanings behind some of the lyrics. I later found out that Dan's favorite author is mystery writer, Harlan Coben. A popular joke in the USA is, "Go figure!"

As Imagine Dragons prepares to play in Singapore September 18, 2016, Wayne gave an interview to Buro 24/7 . The interviewer certainly did their homework and most questions were composed from song lyrics. I thought the questions were original and Wayne's answers are sometimes hilarious!
Ahead of their performance at the 2016 Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix, Imagine Dragons guitarist Wayne Sermon is put to the test of song lyrics.
Tell us more about Sucker for Pain in the Suicide Squad soundtrack. Is there anyone in the world you'd want to chain up and tie down?
Wayne answered, "Wow, well luckily I don't have an answer that because Dan [Dan Reynolds, Imagine Dragons' lead singer] wrote the lyrics to that. So I don't know if there's anyone he wants to chain up. Actually, probably Dan. I would like to chain him up and tie him down. It would be good revenge."
(Modereator's note: Dan hid a dirty diaper in Wayne's suitcase just before a long flight during The Smoke and Mirrors World Tout. PU!)
In Demons, the demons live in the eyes. What do people see when they look in your eyes?
"When people look into my eyes, they see the most beautiful pale blue color they've ever seen in their entire life and they fall madly in love instantly. It's just my curse."
(Another moderator's note. I would have answered, "Don't get too close, it's dark inside." And I love you Wayne Sermon! Must be those baby blues!)
From Radioactive, what do you think the new age of music will sound like?
"For the last five to ten years, people don't care as much about genres anymore. It's about blending the genres together and making new sounds. So I think the future of music is going to be a lot more innovative, and people won't care as long as it's something they like."
Another soundtrack, Not Today from Me Before You tells us that it's," gotta get easier easier somehow." What advice would you give to a fan of yours who's facing relationship problems?
"I would say if you're with the right person, it'll get easier. And if it's not getting easier, I would probably take another look at the relationship and question whether it's right for you or not. It might be, but I'm not saying break up. But I'm saying, if it keeps getting harder and harder to stay in a relationship, that's a pretty good sign to run for the hills."
From Shots, what are you most sorry for at this moment in your life?
"Ooh, it's a serious one. I am sorry for being on the road as much as I've been for the past four or five years. Losing touch with a lot of people in my life, especially close friends I used to have that I'm not close to anymore. That's probably what I'm sorry for."
Finally, from Smoke and Mirrors, who's the dream maker, life maker, heartbreaker and gatekeeper of your life?
"I think we are. When Dan wrote those lyrics, it was really introspective for him. I think the whole album is pretty much like a journal for him. We are the maker of our own dreams, we are responsible ultimately for anything in our lives, wether it's heartbreak or anything else. Ultimately, we're the captains of our own ship."
