    The colour of boom?

I am a headcase, I am the colour of boom...
This is one of the best-known lines in Polaroid, and has caused a lot of debate...what exactly is the colour of boom? Many people have theories!

Many people on YouTube have suggested that it's the colour of an explosion!

Someone called DJWolfPlayz said, "He probably means warm colors, such as red, orange and yellow. To indicate excitement etc." A few lines later they added, "I THINK. Don't take my word for it."

Another YouTuber by the name of Ella Miller said the following:
Once while listening to this song, my sister asked, "What does he mean, 'color of boom?'" And this also bothered me, so I thought about it for several days. I then came to a theory: when he says 'color' he isn't referring to the shade of something. "Color" can also define as the definition or meaning of something. And when he says "boom" he could be referring to an explosion. When most people describe an explosion, they say things like "exhilarating" or "stunning" or "breathtaking." So when he says "Color of boom," he could mean, "I am the definition of someone that will take your breath away and amaze you."

Acting Wolf suggested that it may have to do with being destructive, relating to lyrics like "Can't slow down, I'm a rolling freight train" and "I'm a reckless mistake".

L3giTxSniPE said, "What he means is he has got an explosive and unpredictable personality"

I remember finding a comment thread somewhere with some of my favourite explanations of the line! Unfortunately, I couldn't find it, but I'll try to summarize what they said:
The first one described it as being like a "budding firework". Like a firework that goes up, and you expect it to explode brilliantly, but instead it falls short and never goes off. You're disappointed, but you move on to bigger and better things and forget about the firework that didn't explode. (I think this was actually fairly close to what the original comment said. I might have halfway memorized it, I seem to do that with a lot of things.)
The second one described it as being every colour of the spectrum exploding simultaneously, like a chaotic combination of everything. (Or something like that.)

This is something that I painted using my watercolour set! It took a lot longer than you'd think to get it to look the way I wanted it, and then I had to wait for it to dry so I could put the words on. It reads, "I am the colour of boom".

As usual, the resolution on my laptop's camera is terrible, but oh well. I really like the way it turned out. Next to the painting is the paint splatters around where I applied the colours! I don't have room on my desk to paint there, so I do all my painting on my floor, next to my door. It's rather messy!

I guess you could call this the colour of boom!

    Speaking of colours!

This is almost certainly unreadable, so the writing says "Wait for the colours to turn to gold." I made this before I got my watercolours, so it's done with acrylic paint and the words are in blue ink.

This hat I did paint with watercolours! I'm somewhat an expert on doing things with watercolour that probably shouldn't be done with watercolour. It's a talent!
The hat doesn't have much to do with Polaroid, of course, but it's a really nice hat, and I decided to share it while I'm on the topic of colours.

I always thought of the colour of boom as being sort of like smoke, and not really noticeable, like that one person at the train station staring somewhat forlornly off into the distance that no-one pays much attention to. But sort of like a person who is forlorn and sad most of the time, but they tend to explode outward at people at random moments, or something like that. I'm not actually sure why I thought this.

What are your theories on the colour of boom? Dan likes to leave lyrics up to the listener's interpretation, so I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on this!

    can't choose one!
i don't have any thoeries of my own on this... I like the one stating that the color of boom is a choatic combination of everything. That fits pretty well with the idea conveyed by the verses!
I seriously love your paintings! I can confirm that you have a talent with watercolors.

I think like you brought up, that he is an explosive personality- or that the color is who we are, not the color of our skin per se.
