We Are The World
For the last two days I have struggled with what to say. I wish wholeheartedly that I had better answers. I don't have much money to donate to the recent victims of violence. I have to get up before dawn to be at work tomorrow so I can't even travel to a rally for peace. I am just surviving in a state of shock. Slience.
Then, I decided that silence is exactly what the haters would want. So, I went on Twitter and Facebook and posted messages of love and support and hope. Hate is unacceptable.
Then, I thought of Imagine Dragons and the suicide bombings in France last year. The venue that was bombed was a venue in which Imagine Dragons had played in the past. That had to be a heart stopping moment for them to hear that innocent fans of music had died at the concert. Of course this happened during Smoke + Mirrors World Tour. Imagine Dragons didn't cancel a single show. Dan insisted that terror would never stop the music. They did have a moment of silence and Dan sent condolences through the fan club, Imagine Dragons France.
At the time Dan said, "May we come together as a world advancing toward peace and love." He added that he hoped the concert itself would bring happiness and peace.
During the recent Q&A session on Twitter Dan said, "It starts with you and me. We wake tomorrow and judge no one. Lift others. Spread love. One person at a time."
It dawned on me that is exactly what we do at Imagine Dragons World! We share a LOVE for Imagine Dragons and have created a fandom family of firebreathers. We are spreading love and our favorite music. Spreading messages of tolerance and acceptance through the work of our favorite band.
Annamarie Breezy volunteers for TRF and she just posted on Facebook that today she dyed her hair a beautiful purple color just as an attempt to channel her inner joy. She looks amazing!
Martina from Imagine Dragons Italia reminding our favorite band that we also bet out lives on them!
Isn't that incredibly touching!?
I want to personally thank all of you for being my firebreather family. Thank you for reading my posts.
I know your hearts are heavy and hurting with the sad news from around the world. But please join me in using our voices for acts of love and kindness. It helps me cope with the saddness to know that we may be able to brighten someone's day and show them love and support.
Changing the world may seem like an impossible task. Our Dragons would say, "It's time to begin isn't it?"
