"We are definatley not going into this thinking that we are going to win a Grammy. We're up for Record of the Year and Radioactive was a big song. But songs like Blurred Lines were huge. If I were a voter, I'd be like,' Robin Thicke was at the VMAs with his pin striped suit and Lorde is cute-and who are Imagine Dragons?' I have no idea what those dudes even look like.' When that's the take, you know you're not going to win that award." Dan Renyolds quoted by Kory Grow of Rolling Stone on January 26, 2014
Kory called the Imagine Dragons performance stunning!
Aaron Couch of Bilboard quoted Dan Reynolds as well...
"In a perfect world, it would be like The Hunger Games and at the end, me and Kendrick would be on fire!"

Definatley one of my favorite Grammy performances ever! People made note of celebrities in the audience dancing and singing along. Taylor Swift was dancing in the front row and, Lorde, Beyoncé, Jay Z, and Steven Tyler were singing along! I really enjoyed the collaboration with Kendrick Lamar and appreciate what an effort to mash up Radioactive with m.A.A.d. City. The choreography of Dan, Ben, Wayne and Platzman switching from drum to drum is shown in close-up.
I think Platzman's drums protected him from most of the red dye. Poor Dan got more paint on his stomach than on his white shirt as intended. Most band members recall the dye making them somewhat sick and they immediately went to the privacy of backstage to spit out what the had gotten in their mouths! They also accidentally got some of the red paint on other guests and their expensive clothes. What an unforgettable night. Imagine Dragons did take home their first Grammy for Best Rock Performance for Radioactive.
From last night's Grammys, Kendrick Lamars' set really stood out from the rest and Lady Gaga's tribute to the late David Bowie was artistically beautiful and moving.
Personally, I feel bittersweet over Smoke and Mirrors not being nominated at the Grammys. On one hand I feel like Imagine Dragons work harder than most all other rock stars and they deserve the recognition. On the other hand, Imagine Dragons make music as an expression of themselves and for themselves and their fans. Their music is not mainstream. Somehow, that makes Imagine Dragons and their music more special to those of us that take it to heart and follow the band closely! After all, we're talking about the man that penned the lyric, "I'm never changing who I am!"
